Luis Téllez Borrego, a distinguished Cuban bolero singer, graduated with a degree in acting, artistic direction, and singing from the Instituto Superior de Arte (1110 120th Street between 9th and 13th Streets, Cubanacán, Playa, Havana).
In 1984, he performed at the OIRT Festival in Poland, where he was awarded the Best Foreign Singer Award. The following year, he was present as a special guest at the Berlin Song Festival. In the 1990s, in 1996, Luis Téllez participated in the Caribbean Music and Arts Festival in Paris, alongside the great voices of the Caribbean, as a special guest.
She was part of the cast of the renowned Tropicana cabaret (Calle 72 No. 4504, Marianao, Havana), where she served as the main act for six years. With the cabaret, she has taken her art to numerous stages in various countries.
Luis Téllez has also worked as a leading figure in other major shows. Among them is Noche Tropical, a show that was considered the best show in Japan in 1992 and presented by Mitsubishi.
Sporting Club de Monte Carlo, Principality of Monaco; Grand Casino of San Remo, Italy; Sala Makiavelo, Hotel Cristal, Mexico City; Sala Boite, Hotel Tamanaco, Caracas, Venezuela; Teatros Calderón and Alcanzar, Madrid; the Kobe Convention Center and Budokan, Tokyo; Emperor’s Palace, Japan; Beacon Theater, Broadway; and the United Nations Concert Hall, New York; are some of the venues where this Cuban bolero singer has performed. He has also appeared on television programs in Italy, Spain, Mexico, and Venezuela, among others.
He has also shared the stage with such great figures as Silvio Rodríguez, Rocío Jurado, Dionne Warwick, Pablo Milanés, George Benson, Sara Montiel, Dyango, Trio Los Panchos, Los Sabandeños, The Temptation, Oscar de León, Armando Manzanero, Paloma San Basilio, Dimensión Latina orchestra and Moncho.
Luis Téllez Borrego is considered by specialized critics to be one of the most celebrated Cuban voices both in Cuba and abroad.
