Niurka Reyes, a Cuban singer, possesses incredible abilities to attract and captivate audiences of all ages with her charisma. She became known as a singer in 1992 with the release of her first album, “Sin perder la ternura nunca.”
After the aforementioned album, she achieved a turning point in her career as an artist. Her performances, mainly in the capital, include the most prestigious cabarets, clubs and Casas de la Música, among which we can mention the famous Rincón del bolero Dos Gardenias (18th Street No. 302, Miramar, Playa, Havana), the Piano-Bar Delirio Habanero (Paseo and 39th Streets, Vedado, Plaza de la Revolución, Havana). In addition, we can find her in the main theaters of the capital, at international events held in Cuba and also on TV.
In 1999, under the EGREM label, Niurka Reyes recorded “El Baile del Caracol” and three years later she participated as a guest on the CD “Danny Losada” with Bis Music.
His recordings have filled the airwaves of Cuban radio, and he has also managed to develop a discography where quality prevails, thanks to his ability to connect with the most relevant producers and musicians of the current Cuban musical movement.
This singer is not only recognized for her albums; she has also participated in countless festivals and events. Her breakthrough came in 2000, when she won first prize in the Adolfo Guzmán Competition. A year later, she debuted with her first major solo concert at the Teatro Astral (Calzada de Infanta No. 501, Centro Habana, Havana), with guest appearances by prominent figures in Cuban music such as Reynier Mariño, Mayito Rivera, and the Octeto Vocal Novel Voz.
In 2003, she received the Performance Award at the Channy Chelasi National Festival, held in Ciego de Ávila, and that same year, she received a special mention in the Adolfo Guzmán Competition.
The following year, she was the only singer invited to the closing ceremony of the Habanos Fair and Festival, where she was accompanied by a jazz band composed of prestigious Cuban music maestros, including Pucho López, El Greco, and César López. In 2004, she performed the song that represented the Cuban Sports Delegation at the Athens Olympics with Augusto Enríquez.
In 2006, the artist released the work that established her as a solo artist in the world of song, the CD Apasionada. The song “Sentirás,” included on the CD, was nominated for Best Female Music Video of the Year at the 2007 Lucas Awards. The following year, she also participated in the children’s album Chiquilín by singer-songwriter Fernando Bécquer.
For three consecutive years: 2008, 2009, and 2010, Niurka Reyes has had the privilege of being a special guest at the International Boleros de Oro Festival in Havana. During the summer of 2009, she toured eastern Cuba, including all the municipalities of Granma province.
In October 2010, the singer celebrated her 25th anniversary with a grand concert at the América Theater, which was recorded by Cuban television.
Niurka Reyes holds her weekly club at the ARTEX Specialty Store, located on San Rafael Boulevard in the center of town. She can also be seen hosting the television program “A mi manera” every Sunday.
