Rita Del Prado, Cuban troubadour and singer-songwriter, was born in 1961 in Havana. In 1980, she began her career as a creator in the amateur student artist movement at the University of Havana, and that’s when she began composing songs. In 1983, she completed her studies and graduated with a degree in psychology.

Beginning in the 1990s, he began pursuing musical studies and professionally dedicating himself to creating and performing his own songs. His repertoire includes songs for audiences of all ages, including his own.

Throughout his career, he has performed in various countries, including Mexico, Guatemala, Uruguay, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia. He has also offered workshops and lectures on songwriting at various events and festivals in several countries.

Since 1999, she has collaborated as a creator with the Cantoalegre Corporation in Medellín on cultural and educational outreach projects for children and young people, and with the Integrar Foundation in the same city on artistic projects aimed at people with autism.

Since 2003, he has shared musical creations, shows and recordings with the duo Karma.
Del Prado is the founder of the Latin American and Caribbean children’s song movement. She is a member of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC). She also works as a scriptwriter and director of the radio program El Llavero de los Duendes.

In 2010, he received the Cubadisco Grand Prix for “En guarandinga por toda Cuba,” which he co-produced, performed, and created with the duo Karma. This album also won the 2010 Cubadisco Award in the Children’s Music and Graphic Design categories and was nominated for a recording.

Rita Del Prado has received various awards, including: the Abril Prize (1997) for her body of work for children. The Press Prize at the Adolfo Guzmán Cuban Music Competition (2002). Awards at several editions of the National Radio Festival of Cuba (1998-2004). The Caracol Special Prize from the UNEAC (2003) for directing works for children and young people. The “Los zapaticos de rosa” Award, given by the national organization of pioneers “José Martí” (2005). Recognition for her creative work dedicated to children at the inauguration of the 7th Latin American and Caribbean Children’s Song Conference in Uruguay (2005). The “Del verso a la canción” creation grant for the “Soñar Despierto” project, a musical setting of poems by Eliseo Diego, at the Pablo de la Torriente Brau Cultural Center (2006). Cubadisco Award (2009) in the liner notes category for the production “Anthology from Verse to Song” by the Pablo de la Torriente Brau Cultural Center. Cubadisco Grand Prize (2010) for “In Guarandinga Throughout Cuba.”

She has participated in numerous albums, both as a writer and singer.
