13.10.6 Jorge Emilio González Buajasán

Jorge Emilio González Buajasán is a prominent Cuban pianist; he was born on July 8, 1994, in Havana. He completed his initial musical studies at the Alejandro García Caturla Conservatory (1110 120th Street between 9th and 13th Streets, Cubanacán, Playa, Havana). Later, he enrolled at the Manuel Saumell Conservatory (660 F Street, Vedado, Plaza de la Revolución, Havana), where he studied with Teresita Junco and Hortensia Upman.
He traveled to Paris in 2006, where he pursued musical studies at the Frédéric Chopin Conservatory, receiving lessons from Edouard Exerjean. After achieving the highest score, he received a scholarship for the Specialized Piano Course and, as a student of Billy Eidi, enrolled at the National Conservatory of the Paris Region. He is currently pursuing advanced studies at the same institution.
Among the awards achieved by Jorge Emilio González, we can mention the Second and First Prizes for the best musical interpretation in the Amadeo Roldán Competition, held in 2004, and around the same time, the Third Prize in the First Category of the IV Ibero-American Competition of Havana.
Among the awards obtained in Paris are the Second Prize in the Pre-Superior Category of the 20th Competition for young talents: Steinway and Sons, in 2007. We should also mention the First Prize in the Superior Category of the Clé d’Or Competition (2008) and the First Prize in the 13-14 years Category, also in that year, of the Flame Competition in Paris.
In 2010, Jorge Emilio González won several awards, including the Medal with Commendations at the Lagny-sur-Marne Competition in Paris, unanimously voted by the Jury, and Special First Place at the Flame Competition.
She has participated in numerous events and given several concerts, including the Tribute Concert to Isadora Duncan, held at the Auditorium Saint Germain in Paris; the Tribute Concert to the 200th Anniversary of Robert Schumann’s birth; and the Tribute Concert to the 200th Anniversary of Frédéric Chopin’s birth.
Jorge Emilio González has been invited to the Piano Solo Season, Cuban Music Festivals, and many other prestigious events.
