13.10.7 Alejandro Calzadilla

Alejandro Calzadilla, a distinguished Cuban clarinetist. He began his clarinet studies under the tutelage of Professor María Isabel Castro at the Manuel Saumell Conservatory (660 F Street, Vedado, Plaza de la Revolución, Havana). Later, with Professor Patricia Pérez, he completed his intermediate level studies at the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory (Rastro No. 1 and Espada, Centro Habana, Havana). He has also received master classes from Richard Viellie (France), Valdemar Rodríguez (Venezuela), and Vicent Alberola (Spain).
For four consecutive years, he served as alternate clarinet player for the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, with which he performed several concerts at various events. He has participated in various festivals, such as the Esteban Salas Early Music Festival, the Chamber Music Festival, the 3rd and 4th National Symphony Orchestra Festival, and the Amadeo Roldán Wind Competition, where he won third place.
She has also performed as a soloist in important venues across the country, accompanied by the Música Eterna Chamber Orchestra, the Paulita Concepción Conservatory Youth Orchestra, and the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory Chamber Orchestra. She has shared the stage with the renowned Cuban pianist Aldo López-Gavilán.
Alejandro Calzadilla is currently studying at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) (1110 Calle 120 between 9th and 13th, Cubanacán, Playa, Havana) under the tutelage of Maestro Vicente Monterrey. He is also a member of the institution’s Symphony Orchestra, where he has had the opportunity to perform with the English conductor and violinist Maestro Walter Reiter.
