13.11.6 Isis Adriana Flores Betancourt

Isis Adriana Flores Betancourt, a prominent Cuban singer, was born on November 23, 1974, in Sancti Spíritus. From a young age, she felt a passion for dance and music. At age 7, she enrolled in the Ernesto Lecuona Elementary Music School and began studying piano and choral singing. After completing her studies, she moved to Havana, where she completed secondary school and graduated as a choral conducting teacher. She took various courses in dance specialties, including dance techniques, Canarian dances, and folklore.
During her two years of community service, she created several music and dance groups with children of different ages, with whom she participated in various festivals. During this time, she also worked as a model with the prestigious Russian designer Viera Reinoso.
He began his musical career as a singer with the group “Son Damas.” Later, he joined the group Novel Voz. He then joined singer-songwriter David Blanco Ponsoda’s band, where he played keyboards for five years.
In 2003, she made her debut with the video “Llegarás,” a self-composed song. The hit was a huge success and received three nominations for the Lucas Awards, the Cuban Music Video Festival. Two years later, she released another hit video, “Vino Amargo,” which won her the award for Best Pop Video of the Year. This event preceded the launch of her solo career and facilitated the creation of her first album.
Isis Flores began her solo career in May 2007 with the CD “Sola,” directed and produced by David Blanco. This album includes songs such as “Sola,” “Voy a darte,” “Por donde escapaste,” and “Vino amargo”; it was nominated for the 2008 Cubadisco Award; BIS Music was the label under which the album was released.
At the most recent Lucas Awards 2011, Isis Flores received five nominations for her music video for “Voy a darte.” She won three awards at the event: Best Female Figure, Best Performance, and Best Pop Video.
