13.12.5 Los Angeles of Havana

Los Ángeles de La Habana is a young Cuban orchestra founded on November 18, 2002, by Hugo R. López and Dayran Perdomo. Perdomo has served as its director and principal vocalist since its founding. Their performances possess a strong Cuban identity, blending contemporary Cuban popular music with international rhythms.
The orchestra has already released three albums, accompanied by five video clips and a DVD. Among their hits is “La Maquinita” from their CD “24 kilates.” In 2004, they participated in the Cubadisco Festival, nominated for the aforementioned album.
Between 2003 and 2005, Los Ángeles de La Habana were selected to perform on the “Carnival Fever” show float at the Havana Carnival. Two years later, they once again performed in the opening show of the festivities.
In 2008, they performed in Portugal and shared the stage with David Bisbal. That same year, they visited America and Europe during their summer tour.
They have performed at prestigious Havana venues such as Casas de la Música, La Cecilia, the Jardines y Salón Rosado at La Tropical, Turquino at the Habana Libre, Café Cantante, Macumba Habana, Habana Café at the Hotel Cohíba, the Teatro Nacional, the Salón Rojo at the Hotel Capri, and the Cine Teatro Payret. They have given numerous concerts at popular festivals in many Cuban provinces, as well as in Latin American countries such as Peru and Mexico.
Los Ángeles de La Habana have performed with elite Cuban music orchestras, including Paulo FG, La Charanga Habanera, Van Van, Elio Revé y su Charangón, and La Orquesta Aragón. The group’s repertoire is primarily based on previously unreleased songs composed by the orchestra’s producer, Rembert Morera, and also draws on the entire repertoire of Los Zafiros and anthological songs of Cuban music.
They are currently part of their company’s catalogue of excellence and are worthy of the status of Laureates.
