13.9.3 Nexus Vocal Ensemble


Nexus Vocal Ensemble, a prominent Cuban vocal group. In 2007, they participated in the Lotto-Quebec World Chant Choral Competition, held in Laval, Canada. At this competition, they won the Gold Medal in the Vocal Ensemble category. They also won the Audience Award, garnering 82 percent of the audience vote.

On that occasion, they performed classic works from the Cuban musical repertoire, including Son al Son, El Guayaboso, El Manisero, and Guajira Guantanamera. They also performed Vientos de Mambo, marking the world premiere of this work composed by group member Evelyn Ramón.

Upon returning to Cuba, Ensemble Vocal Nexus began recording the songs featured on their debut album.
