Marta Isabel Campos Morales, better known in the musical world as Marta Campos, is a Cuban composer and guitarist. She was born in March 1954 in Havana. She completed her musical studies in 1976 at the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory of Music.

He began his career as a professional musician, performing works by prominent Spanish composers such as Dionisio Aguado and Francisco Tárrega, as well as by the prominent Cuban composer Leo Brower.

This Cuban singer’s repertoire includes compositions by prominent composers such as Noel Nicola, Miguel Matamoros, José Antonio Quesada, Gerardo Alfonso, Sindo Garay, Angel Quintero, Pablo Milanés, and Sivio Rodríguez.

Marta Campos joined the Cuban song movement known as La Nueva Trova in 1978, becoming one of the most significant female figures in this movement today.

On his first trip to Nicaragua in 1981, he performed in several cities (Masaya, Managua, León, Granada, Matagalpa, Estela, and Chinandega) and also at the Munguía venue. On this tour, he shared the stage with important figures such as Donato Poveda, Santiago Feliú, and Noel Nicola. On his second visit to the nation, in 1983, he had the opportunity to perform with Walfrido Domínguez and César Portillo de la Luz, composer and guitarist.

In 1985, he visited Nicaragua for the third time. He performed with the American group Sabia, along with Noel Nicola, Vicente Feliú, and José Novás, at the Pacasán.

Along with Joaquín Clerch and Luis Manuel Molina, Marta performed at Guitarromanía, held at the Alejandro García Caturla venue. She accompanied her guitar with her finely tuned voice, a first for Cuban guitarists, performing the pieces “Lullaby for a Black Child” and “Variations on a Tango of Love.” Also in her performance, she performed Leo Brouwer’s “Etude No. 5” for guitar, transforming it into an accompaniment piece, as it developed a melody meant to be sung.

In 1995, she performed her song “Me desordeno amor, me desordeno” in Guatemala, which is about the work of Cuban poet Carilda Oliver. That same year, Marta gave a concert in which she performed, among other songs, “Ausencia” and “Pensamiento” at the Black Note venue and at the Rector Peset Residence Hall at the University of Valencia, Spain; she returned to the venue in 1998.

In Spain, she has performed on stages in several cities, including Las Rozas City Hall and the Joaquín Rodrigo Auditorium in Madrid. She presented her album, Como soy, in Barcelona.

Among his numerous performances, he has participated in various events such as: In the province of Santiago de Cuba, the New Song Day, which also featured solo performers and groups such as: Sara González, José Antonio Quesada, the group Guaicán and others. In the concert Canto para Todos, organized by the Ibero-American Song Center, held at the Amadeo Roldán Theater (Calzada y D, Vedado, Havana), Lázaro García, Aurora de los Andes, Vicente Feliú and Samuel Águila participated. In A guitarra limpia, in 2001, organized by the Pablo de la Torriente Brau Center (Calle de la Muralla No. 63 between Oficios and Inquisidor, Old Havana, Havana).

His recordings include several solo albums, as well as collaborations on others.

As a composer, she has a variety of works to her credit, such as: Aguanta corazón, Todo fue un tentación, Bolero corto, Hay amores, Tiempo de flores, Lullaby for a black child, Theme for my America, El beso, Love song to Nicaragua, Sol y luna, Quiero dormir con la luna, Con amores, Son a Nicaragua, Cuando paseste tú, Mi habanera para ti, Divertimento para un beso and Canto a mi gente.
