12.11.4 Vocal LT

Vocal LT is a vocal group created in 1997 by Carlos Díaz Laportilla, who has served as its director ever since.
Initially a purely vocal group, their work consisted of imitating the sound of an orchestra with only their voices. They reproduced various musical instruments such as the trumpet, trombones, bass, tres, and percussion instruments, both major and minor, among others.
Their repertoire includes a variety of musical genres, ranging from the different genres that make up Cuban music to jazz, pop, cumbia, classical music, and others.
In 2001, Vocal LT changed its format with the aim of exploring new sounds. To achieve this, they fused imitations of instruments with the sound of a sequenced bass and guitar. They also reduced the format to just three members, who performed the vocals.
Throughout their career, this group has toured extensively, bringing their music to countries such as Spain, Colombia, Argentina, and Finland. They have also shared stages with prestigious international music figures and groups such as Grupo Niche, DLG, and Kool & the Gang.
Their discography includes Top Line, a 12-track album from 2000, and Sólo Voces, a 14-track album from 2001.
Vocal LT is a unique musical project of its kind in Cuba, as unlike others, it presents a challenging proposal that consists of mixing the sounds of instruments manufactured in the human voice with real musical instruments.
