Yumurí y sus Hermanos, a Cuban orchestra founded in September 1992 by Moisés Valle, popularly known as Yumurí. The group consisted of three of the four musician brothers of its director.
Orlando Valle, Maracas, was in charge of arranging the songs they performed. They won the award for best new band of the year on the Cuban television program “Mi Salsa” in 1993.
Yumurí and his brothers performed in Japan in 1994. In 1997, they performed in countries such as Venezuela, Panama, Mexico, the United States, France, and Switzerland, in the well-known show Cuba Tropical in Japan.
A group characterized by its unique style of interpreting Cuban musical genres such as Son and Salsa, thanks to the excellent performances of its director, who also serves as its lead singer. Their performances feature a wide and varied repertoire, and their songs feature distinctively Cuban rhythms.
This orchestra has taken its music to various countries around the world, achieving notable success in each of them: Japan, Europe, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Jamaica, among others. It has shared the stage with renowned international musical figures.
Their 2004 album, Salsa y Candela, was nominated for the 2005 Cubadisco Award in the Current Popular Dance Music category and topped the charts on Cuban radio and television. In 2005, they released a salsa DVD called Yumurí Live, the first to be produced in the country.
In the summer of 2008, they embarked on a nationwide tour. They performed 18 concerts, continuously and uninterruptedly, from East to West, attracting thousands of spectators of all ages.
Yumurí and his brothers welcomed the year 2009 with a new dance music album, Cubano Cubano. The album features the song “Pegaito a la tarima,” which quickly captured the attention of Cuban dancers and reached the top of radio stations’ charts.
Yumurí y sus Hermanos is an orchestra that, since its founding and continuing to this day, has achieved top spots on the Hit Parade on national radio and television, as well as the public’s preference. One of the Cuban orchestras that has made history in contemporary popular music.
