12.20.25 Sugar Band

Azúcar Band, a Cuban popular music group, is directed by Kenia Figueroa. This group’s roster consists of a total of twelve musicians who graduated from music conservatories, seven of them women and the rest men.
Their repertoire includes various Cuban musical genres: Son, Salsa, Cha-Cha-Cha, Bolero, and other foreign rhythms like Merengue and Cumbia. Reggae and Latin pop are also included. Arnaldo Rodríguez, who was one of the members of Azúcar Band, is the author and arranger of many of the group’s songs.
Azúcar Band has taken their music to countless national and international venues. In Cuba, they have performed in renowned venues in Havana, including the Turquino at the Hotel Habana Libre (Calle L, corner 23, Vedado, Plaza de la Revolución, Havana), one of the most important, as well as in various plazas and venues throughout the country.
Countries such as Ecuador, Panama, Mexico, Turkey, Germany, Spain, Guatemala, Switzerland, Costa Rica, and the French Caribbean, which includes Martinique, Guadeloupe, and Saint Martin, have also been able to enjoy the high-quality performances of this important Cuban popular music group.
Azúcar Band’s album production consists of three albums, including Romance de Chiquillos and Lápiz de labio, produced by Arnaldo Rodríguez. Several of the songs included in Romance de Chiquillos reached number one on the charts of major Cuban radio stations.
His third album was released in 2011. It features songs such as Ya te olvidar (I Forgot You Already), Malito y Farandulero (Malito and Farandulero), Tiempo al tiempo (Time to Time), Quiero más (I Want More) and Todo era mentira (Everything Was a Lie).
