13.9.2 Vocal Coravila

Vocal Coravila is a young Cuban vocal group founded in 2009 in the province of Ciego de Ávila. It is comprised of a group of young artists belonging to the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS).

Its director is Ricardo Bustinza Montes de Oca, a 1987 Choral Conducting graduate who has been supported in the development of this project by excellent professors such as Carmen Collado, José Antonio Méndez, Concepción Moré, Celaida Menéndez, and Rolf Sneider. He was a member of the vocal group Ars Nova and the Matanzas Professional Choir, experiences that serve him well today in guiding and directing all the young talents under his wing. He is also a professor at the School of Art Instructors and the Higher Pedagogical Institute of Ciego de Ávila, where he directs the “Voxes” choir.

The Coravila group is still very young, and most of its performances are associated with the essential cultural and social activities that take place in the province of Ciego de Ávila.

Vocal groups in Cuba have gained significant influence thanks to internationally renowned groups such as Vocal Sampling and Vocal LT. However, the group led by Maestro Bustinza boasts enormous human and artistic quality, making it a group worth following in the vocal genre on the island.
