Lynn Milanés Benet, Cuban performer; was born in April 1970. She is the daughter of the renowned Cuban singer-songwriter Pablo Milanés. She received her musical training at the Manuel Saumell Elementary Music School (660 F Street, Vedado, Havana), where she enrolled in 1983 to specialize in flute and remained there until 1986. She continued her studies at the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory (Rastro No. 1 and Espada Street, Centro Habana, Havana) in the 1990s and later enrolled at the Ignacio Cervantes School for Professional Development, graduating in 1996 with a diploma for Outstanding Flute Talent.
During her time as a student, Lynn won several awards, including the award for best performance of Romantic Music.
He began his professional career working as a flutist for theater groups such as the Ballet Teatro de La Habana and the Teatro Buendía, which featured live music in their performances. He also accompanied graduation ceremonies for students specializing in piano and other instruments.
In 1994, Lynn Milanés founded the group Aries, a three-part vocal ensemble. The group’s instrumental format included piano, drums, guitar, Cuban percussion, bass, and flute. She served as a flutist, alternating between singing, and as director. With this group, she recorded her first album that same year, entitled Aries.
He began his singing career in 1997, exploring genres such as pop and blues; he also explored his dual guitar work with traditional Cuban composers and boleros.
In 2000, she performed as a guest artist at the Cuban Record Festival, CUBADISCO. She also appeared on several television programs and toured both nationally and internationally.
In 2003, she organized a concert in the Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater (Paseo and 39th Street, Vedado, Plaza de la Revolución, Havana), entitled “La Música.” In 2009, she embarked on a national tour throughout the Cuban archipelago, performing more than twenty concerts in theaters and plazas. During this tour, she performed songs from her latest CD and DVD, “Te quiero bien.”
She went on an international tour, which spanned several Spanish cities such as Madrid, Galicia, and Granada, as part of the promotion of her album.
Te Quiero Bien (I Love You Well) is Lynn Milanés’s first solo album. It was released at the Mella Theater (Line No. 657, Vedado, Plaza de la Revolución, Havana), where Polito Ibáñez, Raúl Torres, Suylen and Haydée Milanés, and Rey Ugarte, among others, were on stage. This album was nominated for the 2009 CUBADISCO Awards in the Pop-Ballads category.
Their repertoire encompasses diverse musical genres such as pop, blues, traditional music, rock, and troubadour songs. It includes songs by Cuban singer-songwriters such as Atanay Castro, Raúl Torres, Descemer Bueno, Geovani Caballero (Vanito), Federico Llado, Yadan González, Liván Castellano, and Pablo Milanés.
His musical talent appears in albums such as Bolero en Pop, Homenaje a Serrat, Disco de Navidad, and Breathing Havana.
Lynn Milanés has appeared on television programs such as Vamos a andar, La Descarga, and Ecos de Mujer. She has shared the stage with notable musical figures such as Pablo, Haydeé, and Suylén Milanés, Raúl Torres, Joaquín Sabina, Polito Ibáñez, Pablo FG, and Bobby Carcasés. In Cuba, she has performed at various nightclubs such as Gato Tuerto, Club Imágenes, Delirio Habanero, and Café Cantante.
