12/13/11 To’Mezclao

To’Mezclao, a distinguished young Cuban group, possesses an authentic Cuban flavor, which, combined with their excellent stage presence, has placed them in the public’s spotlight.

The group, under the direction of its DJ and composer Lyng Chang, also includes the versatile: Yusi González on piano, Julio Montoro, arranger and guitarist (electric, electroacoustic and tres), Yona González on flute, saxophone and minor percussion, Yan Regueiro who supports the percussion with drum, bongo, tambora and timbal and finally the vocalists Luis Alberto Vicet (la Crema) and Yoandri Castro (El conejo).

To’Mezclao bases his musical work on the most contagious Cuban and Caribbean rhythms, such as Rumba, Son, Changüí, Cha-cha-chá, Ballenato, and Merengue, among others; these rhythms are ingeniously interspersed with more modern and contemporary rhythms. It is this exquisite blend that defines them.

Their performances are full of energy and freshness; but their intense Cuban flavor is what gives them their distinctive touch, allowing them to fill the numerous venues they’ve performed on throughout the country.

In 2010, To’Mezclao embarked on a successful tour of various cities in the United Kingdom. This young group performed nine concerts, including appearances at the most important festivals of the summer, such as Liverpool, before a demanding British audience that enthusiastically received the group.

Her latest album, titled “Hibrig,” was produced by Tumi Music, a prestigious Cuban label with over twenty years of experience that has promoted important Cuban artists internationally, including Celina González, Chucho Valdés, Juego de Manos, Jóvenes Clásicos del Son, and others. The album features twelve tracks that brilliantly fuse the most indigenous elements of the Caribbean nation’s music with other international rhythms.
