13.19 Lidis Lamorú Febles. Prominent Cuban vocalist of popular children’s music.

Lidis Lamorú Febles, Cuban soloist, instrumentalist, and vocalist of popular children’s music, was born on April 20, 1974, in Moa, Holguín. She graduated in History from the Pedagogical Institute of her home province, but her artistic interests led her to venture into this field, where she took her first steps as a professional artist with the “Teatro Guiñol” group. As part of this group, she participated in various events, as well as in several editions of the “Aquelarre” comedy festivals.

Lidis Lamorú’s artistic career took a giant leap forward when she was invited to host the Cuban television program “El Patio de Gabriela,” from which she took her stage name: Gabriela. The popular, nationwide program also featured musical compositions written for the program by Lidis, who is also a voice impersonator. Her outstanding performance on the program earned her the award for Most Popular Character and Best Female Performance. Along with the program’s collective, she also received the Caracol Award presented by UNEAC. In 2006, she was awarded the “Venga la esperanza” award by the “Hermanos Saíz Association” (AHS).

The popular singer and actress has directed her artistic work especially toward children, with whom she achieves excellent communication through rhythms and the content of messages that contribute to the enrichment of the most beautiful human values, as demonstrated by her first album, “Voy a quererte más.”

For her second album, “Por una sonrisa,” she featured prominent musicians, and she herself played the guitar and harmonica, instruments she has studied extensively. The album contains thirteen tracks and its main objective is to develop children’s ethical and aesthetic tastes with messages that, in simple language, reach through genres such as ballads, guaracha, jazz, pop, and rock, among others. This means that when children listen to her work, they can sing, dance, and reflect at the same time. The album was widely promoted during Lidis’s tour across the island to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the Cuban Pioneers Organization.

Through her national tours, Lidis Lamorú has given numerous families with their children songs such as “The Value of Friendship”, “The Girl and the Angel”, “Joyful Song”, “I’m Always Waiting for You”, “Loving Goes”, “Sow Affection”, “Lullaby for Lorena”, “Nero’s Rox”, “The Secret of Love”, “Colors, Colors”, “For a Smile” and “The Orchestra of the Animals”, which thanks to Bis Music production and the animation studios of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry, already have their video click.

Recently, the versatile Holguín artist, who has been a professional for over 15 years, announced that she is involved in several projects, one of which will be the recording of her third album.
