36th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema

With just 15 days until the opening of the 36th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, the country is already waiting for the lights to come on the big screen and the spectacle of 24 frames per second to begin. From December 4th to the 14th, we will be enjoying cinema that strives to follow its own standards in the face of the commercialization that the film industry in developed countries, in Hollywood and other centers of power, seeks to impose its hegemony.

This isn’t about ignoring the contributions of these powerful industries to the seventh art, but rather about defending the plurality of a continent rich in culture, rhythms, and visuals that propose an alternative, non-monolithic cinema, conducive to capturing the conflicts of our environment with a high level of artistic achievement, despite the limitations in terms of the cost of each audiovisual production. On this occasion, the Festival pays tribute to Gabriel García Márquez, who was closely linked to the event since its founding years as a writer, filmmaker, and exponent of the living essence of Latin America.

Tickets to attend the event are now on sale at La Rampa, Yara, Chaplin, 23 and 12, Payret, Multicine Infanta, Acapulco, Lido and City Hall theaters, Monday through Sunday, from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. They can also be purchased at the Glauber Rocha Room of the New Latin American Cinema Foundation, Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, as well as at the Festival House, Monday through Saturday, from 9:00 am to 6 pm.
